  • Create an evenly conditioned body and prevent injuries

What is Pilates?

Pilates is an innovative system of mind-body exercise evolved
from the principles of Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's.  Joseph Pilates was a boxer, a circus performer, a self-defense trainer and a soldier and he used all of this training to develop the series of exercises that we know today as Pilates.  The 40 true Pilates exercises incorporate 8 key principles of : relaxation, concentration, control, centering, fluidity, precision, breathing, and stamina.

Pilates dramatically transforms the way your body looks, feels and performs. Consistent pilates training builds strength without excess bulk which will create a sleek, toned body with lean muscle mass and a flat abdomen.  As a student of pilates you will also improve your body awareness, posture, flexibility and core strength. By properly strengthening your core and supporting your spine you will also reduce your risk of back injuries and pain.

The ballerinas of the New York City Ballet have used pilates exercises for strength training for decades.  Gradually over the past 20 years other athletes and celebrities have also discovered the dramatic benefits of Pilates.   Now, you can also learn Pilates exercises in a relaxing and personalized environment with Pilates 4U, LLC!
